The World Comes to Vienna

In May 2026, Vienna will host the 70th Eurovision Song Contest. With its outstanding musical tradition and cultural richness, the Austrian capital offers the perfect setting for the world’s biggest music competition – and much more besides: during the Song Contest, the city itself becomes a stage. Public spaces will become a platform and a unifying element between people and cultures from all over the world.

Vienna: an experienced host of major events

As a hub for trade fairs and events, Vienna has the infrastructure required to successfully stage major events. This includes an efficient public transport network. Wiener Linien has extensive experience with major events such as the Donauinselfest, which attracts nearly three million revellers over three days. We ensure that visitors and Viennese residents can get around the city quickly, safely and reliably, even during the Song Contest.

Well-informed and well-entertained

Public transport during the Song Contest

To coincide with the Eurovision Song Contest, Wiener Linien is increasing the frequency of its services: underground trains will run more frequently.

In the area around the Wiener Stadthalle, tram lines 6, 18 and 49 will be extended as required.

WL x Silent Disco Tram
WL x Silent Disco Tram

With its own brand, WL x, Wiener Linien brings culture into people’s everyday public transport lives. Whether it’s a silent disco, a poetry slam or a comedy night – WL x stands for surprising, accessible cultural experiences across the public transport network that bring people together. The Eurovision Song Contest, as an international music event, is therefore a perfect fit for WL x: music, encounters and diversity meet mobility – and turn the city itself into a stage. With the WL x Song Contest Sound Lounge, we are expanding the series with a bespoke format that shows how we are keeping Vienna moving during the ESC – both culturally and in everyday life.
