Song Contest in Vienna: Here’s how you can experience the Song Contest with Wiener Linien

In May, the world of music is coming to Vienna. To mark the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, Wiener Linien is not only offering a perfectly tailored public transport service for all passengers, but is also bringing the ESC to life in public spaces. From the Party Tram and the WL x Sound Lounge to performances by the popular U-Bahn Stars: here’s where you’ll find your ESC moment with Wiener Linien.

Your ESC ticket as a travel pass for public transport

On event days, your ESC ticket also serves as a ticket for public transport in Vienna’s core zone – valid from 3 hours before to 5 hours after the start of the event. For the grand final on 16 May 2026, your ESC ticket even becomes a day ticket and is valid throughout Vienna from 00:00 to 24:00. 

You can easily purchase further public transport tickets via the WienMobil app, the online ticket shopÖffnet in einem neuen Tab, at ticket machines in underground stations, and at Wiener Linien ticket and information points.

Public transport during the Song Contest

To mark the Eurovision Song Contest, Wiener Linien is stepping up its services: during ESC week, the underground will run at shorter intervals to ensure a comfortable journey for all passengers. There will also be adjustments to the tram service. For the dress rehearsal on Friday and the final on Saturday, lines 6, 18 and 49 will operate with extended hours until around 2.00 am. For the final, the underground service will also be further expanded: lines U2 and U6 will run at 5-minute intervals until around 2.00 am. Lines U1, U3 and U4 will run at 7.5-minute intervals until around 2.30 am.

Update on 12 May 2026

Due to the weather, the Eurovision Village on Rathausplatz will be scaled down today and the Ringstraße will not be closed. Wiener Linien is responding flexibly and will be running tram lines 1, 2 and D along the Ringstraße all day today. Due to this last-minute change, there may be slight variations in service intervals. Line 71, however, will continue to operate on a shortened route to Schwarzenbergplatz.

U-Bahn Stars Pop-up Spot

The U-Bahn Stars are accredited buskers who entertain passengers with live music at selected underground stations across the public transport network. From 4 to 16 May, they’ll be creating a Song Contest atmosphere at this additional spot on Urban-Loritz-Platz. But there’ll also be a touch of “70 Years of the ESC” at the other spots during the Song Contest.

For almost nine years, the U-Bahn Stars (accredited buskers) have been delighting our passengers with live music at selected locations across the public transport network. From 4 to 16 May, they will be creating a Eurovision Song Contest atmosphere at the additional spot on Urban-Loritz-Platz. But even at the regular spots, there’ll be a touch of “70 Years of the ESC” in the air during the Song Contest. 🎶
