Gasometer U3 station to get two new entrances

Wiener Linien is expanding the Gasometer U3 station with two new, barrier-free entrances. Both platforms will have additional access points with stairs and lifts. Construction work began in April 2025. It will not affect underground service. From 2027, passengers will be able to conveniently reach the Gasometer station via Medwedweg and Nussbaumallee in addition to the existing exit.

Two additional stairways and lifts, improved connections for the Erdberger Mais district

With the expansion of the Gasometer U3 station, Wiener Linien is investing specifically in a sustainable public transport infrastructure that meets the needs of a growing city. The measure improves public transport connections to the up-and-coming Erdberger Mais district.

Important investment in accessibility

Wiener Linien attaches great importance to accessibility and is constantly investing in the modernisation of its infrastructure. We are continuously adapting the accessibility of our vehicles, stations and guidance systems to improve orientation and accessibility.

In autumn 2024, the city of Vienna was awarded the EU's Access City Award, with particular emphasis on the accessibility of Wiener Linien's services.
