Getting around during marathon weekend

Vienna will be buzzing with energy as more than 40,000 runners take part in the marathon. From Friday through Sunday, road closures and event logistics will affect several tram and bus routes.

To keep things running smoothly, underground services will operate more frequently. We recommend allowing extra travel time, avoiding affected areas where possible, and using the underground as your main way of getting around. There will be diversions and temporary interruptions on tram and bus lines along the marathon route. Planning ahead will help you stay on track - switching to the underground is often the quickest option.

During the marathon weekend, the underground is the easiest and most reliable way to travel across the city. Lines U1, U2, U3 and U4 will run at frequent intervals of just 2 to 4 minutes, getting you where you need to go quickly and comfortably.
