Digital-only annual pass: FAQ and how to switch

Here you can find how to switch from the cheque card to the digital-only annual pass, plus more information on the digital annual pass.

Frequently asked questions about switching:

In order to obtain the digital-only annual pass, you need a valid online account in the WienMobil ticket shop or in the WienMobil app. This requires registration in the online portal logwien. When you register for the first time, you will automatically be directed to this registration.

If you already have an annual pass, you need to link your existing annual pass in your online account so that you can switch to the digital annual pass. For step-by-step instructions, see the question "How can I link my annual pass to my account in the online shop".

How to link your annual pass in the WienMobil Ticketshop:
Open the WienMobil Ticketshop.
Register and/or log in.
In the tab "My profile" click on "Link annual pass".
Enter your 10-digit annual pass number and your date of birth.
Click on "Link annual pass."
Confirm that the data will be merged.

How to link your annual pass in the WienMobil app:
Download and install the app on your smartphone.
Register and/or log in.
In the menu, click on "My account".
In the bottom menu bar, click on "My tickets".
Select "Link annual pass."
Enter the 10-digit number of your annual pass and your date of birth.
Click "Next."
Confirm that the data will be merged.

You have an account in the online store (the WienMobil Ticketshop)?
Log in to the WienMobil Ticketshop or the WienMobil app and click on the button "Switch now". Follow the instructions for the switch.

You don't have an account in the online store?
Register in the WienMobil Ticketshop or in the WienMobil app and create an account. Registration and login are done via logwien, the uniform login of the Wiener Stadtwerke Group. When you register for the first time, you will be automatically redirected to logwien.
In the WienMobil ticket store, link your existing annual pass to your online account. For step-by-step instructions, please refer to the question "How can I link my annual pass to my account in the online store?".
In the "My tickets" area under "More", select the option "Switch to digital annual pass" (this is possible from 70 days before the end of validity). You can terminate your existing contract free of charge when your existing annual pass expires (termination upon expiry). 
Select the desired payment method and complete your order. 

Please register in the WienMobil Ticketshop (app or web). You will then have access to your online account and can purchase the digital annual pass under "Products" by clicking on "Annual pass" and selecting "Digital annual pass".

You have an account in the online shop (WienMobil Ticketshop)?
Log in to the WienMobil Ticketshop.
In the "Products" section, click on "Annual Pass" and select "Annual Pass Digital". Select the desired validity start date and complete the purchase.
You don't have an account in the WienMobil Ticketshop? 
Register in the WienMobil Ticketshop or in the WienMobil App and create an account. Registration and login are done via logwien, the uniform login of the Wiener Stadtwerke Group. When you register for the first time, you will be automatically redirected to logwien.

Purchase the digitl annual pass in the WienMobil Ticketshop. Select the desired payment method and complete your order.

Important: Do not deposit the payment slip!
If you pay in the payment slip, a new plastic cheque card will be issued for you. You can get the digital-only annual pass exclusively in the WienMobil Ticketshop (web and app).

You have a subscription?

You do not have a subscription?
You can let the existing contract expire and order a new digital annual pass. If you cancel your existing contract before it expires, we will charge a processing fee of 22 euros and you must return your current annual pass.

Please do not pay the payment slip!
You can purchase the digital annual pass exclusively online in the WienMobil Ticketshop. To buy the digital annual pass, you must not use the payment slip enclosed in the letter that informs you about the imminent expiry of your existing annual pass. When you deposit the payment slip, a new plastic cheque card will be issued for you.

If you do not want to switch, you may as well continue to obtain the plastic cheque card. You can display the cheque card in the WienMobil app.

You have a subscription with direct debit?
You do not need to do anything. If you do not cancel, your contract will be renewed and you will be sent a new cheque card. The amount will continue to be debited from your account.

Have you paid for your annual pass in advance?
If you pay in the payment slip you receive from us with the letter informing you about the upcoming end of your annual pass, you will receive a new cheque card. You can also buy your new annual pass by bank transfer, at the WienMobil Ticketshop and at one of our locations.

With the digital-only annual pass, it is not possible to deposit other payers. This means that you as the cardholder will have to settle the account.

For job ticket customers whose annual pass is managed by the company (your annual pass number starts with "486"): Your employer handles your annual pass. You cannot switch to the digital-only annual pass yourself.

You pay for your annual pass yourself and get the money back from your employer (your annual pass number starts with "480")?
You can switch yourself and find the relevant information above (e.g. in the FAQ "I have a subscription" or "I pay for my annual pass in advance").

Your employer handles the annual pass for you (your annual pass number starts with "486")?
You cannot change tickets yourself, your employer handles everything directly with Wiener Linien.

Unfortunately, the digital-only annual pass is not available for you.

If you have a VOR annual pass or a VOR KlimaTicket MetropolRegion including Lower Austria and Burgenland (and Vienna), you will be served by VOR (Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region). You can find more information at vor.at.

Customers with a KlimaTicket Austria are served by OneMobility.

You can buy the digital annual pass online in WienMobil Tickethop (app and web). After purchase, the annual pass is automatically displayed in the WienMobil app if you are logged in to the app. This way you always have your Annual Pass with you on your smartphone, it can't get lost and you can't leave it at home.

I don't have an account in the online store yet. What do I have to do?
Please register and create a profile in the WienMobil Ticketshop. Registration and login are done via logwien, the central login of the Wiener Stadtwerke Group. After registration, you can buy the digital annual pass in the WienMobil Ticketshop. Afterwards, the digital annual pass will automatically be displayed in the WienMobil app if you are logged in to the app. 

I did not buy my plastic cheque card annual pass in the online store and want to switch to the digital annual pass. What do I have to do?
If you do not have a subscription, you can simply let your existing annual pass expire and buy a new digital annual pass for the desired period. Please note: Do not deposit the payment slip that is enclosed in the letter reminding you of the upcoming expiry of your current annual pass. If you pay in the payment slip, a new plastic card annual pass will be produced. You can buy the digital annual pass exclusively in the WienMobil Ticketshop.

If you have a subscription and are not yet registered in the online store, you have to register in the online store and link your existing annual pass to your account in the online store. Then cancel your current annual pass with expiration and buy a new digital annual pass as soon as it is available in the online store.

I bought my plastic card annual pass online and want to switch to the digital annual pass. What do I have to do?
Since you bought your annual pass online, you already have an account in the WienMobil Ticketshop. Please log in, click on "Switch now" and follow the instructions.

It is possible to link the annual pass in the WienMobil app. However, the digital-only annual pass is much more climate-friendly, because here we do without the plastic cheque card and its transport. And since all correspondence is handled by e-mail, we save the environment even more CO2.

No. The digital annual pass is only available as an electronic ticket in the WienMobil app. You cannot issue a plastic card or print the ticket.

You can either buy the annual pass for one year (without automatic renewal) or opt for a subscription (automatic renewal as long as you do not cancel). If you choose the one-time option, you pay the full amount at the beginning of the term. With a subscription, you can choose between a one-time payment at the beginning of the term and debiting in monthly installments.

No. The digital annual pass is personalized (i.e., it is issued to a specific person) and therefore not transferable. 

As an annual pass holder, can I take someone else with me?
As an annual pass holder, you may take two children with you free of charge on Saturdays from 12:00 noon (children up to the age of 15, or up to the end of the school year in which they turn 15 if they can provide proof of school attendance). You can also take one dog for free.

Yes, people over the age of 65 can purchase the digital annual ticket at a reduced price. Read more in the WienMobil Ticketshop
