Wiener Linien keeps Vienna moving around the clock, even during the festive season. Whether on the subway, bus, and tram, in our workshops, or in security and customer service: more than 4,000 employees make an essential contribution to ensuring reliable public transport.

December 24, 2025

On December 24, Wiener Linien operates according to the Saturday schedule until 6:00 p.m. From around 6:00 p.m., trams and buses run at least every 15 minutes. The subway will operate continuously throughout the night from December 24 to 25.

Additional cemetery services will be provided:

  • Line 38B runs from approx. 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Nussdorf every 20 minutes to Nussdorfer and Heiligenstädter cemeteries.
  • Line 39B operates from approx. 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Sieveringer Straße/Karthäuserstraße every 10 minutes to Sieveringer cemetery.

December 31, 2025

During the day, all lines operate according to the Saturday schedule. In the morning, diversions and short turns may occur in the Ringstraße–Kai area due to the New Year’s Eve run. Please pay attention to announcements.

On New Year’s Eve night, all subway lines run as usual, and many tram and bus lines operate throughout the night. Due to high demand, intervals will be shortened on numerous routes. For safety reasons, Stephansplatz station will be closed from 9:00 p.m.
