“ORF Lange Nacht der Museen”: Discover public Öffi history until midnight

On 3 October 2026, Verkehrsmuseum Remise stays open late: For the “ORF Lange Nacht der Museen”, the Wiener Linien transport museum is open from 6:00 pm to midnight. In addition to historic trams and buses, there is a special programme with guided tours, rides on vintage buses, a driving simulator, VR experiences and many interactive activities.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, which features one of Europe’s largest collections of historic tram and bus vehicles, the “ORF Lange Nacht der Museen” at the Verkehrsmuseum Remise offers many opportunities to get involved and take a look behind the scenes at Wiener Linien.

Programme highlights at a glance:

  • Safety bus with simulator
    Drive a tram in the simulator and learn more about safety on Wiener Linien services.
  • Vienna’s public transport history with VR
    Discover historic vehicles on a virtual tour.
  • Ride on a vintage bus
    Take a ride on a historic bus. The tour starts and ends at the Remise.
  • Public transport quiz rally
    Solve challenges about Vienna’s public transport and visit the selfie station.
  • Children’s programme
    Play and creative activities where children can make, try and explore things themselves.
  • Historic vehicles and signal box
    Join a guided tour to see historic vehicles and signal box technology up close. A maximum of ten people can take part in each tour.
  • Exclusive workshop tour
    Take a look behind the scenes at the Remise and learn more about its workshop and technology. A maximum of ten people can take part in each tour.
  • Wiener Linien cinema
    Historic short films tell the story of Wiener Linien.

The interactive activities and special programme are available from 6:00 pm to 11:30 pm. Guided tours and vintage bus rides start at 6:30 pm. The Wiener Linien cinema runs until midnight. The museum and shop are open as usual from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm and additionally from 6:00 pm to midnight.

Guided tours and vintage bus rides: Get your free time slot ticket

Places on the guided tours and vintage bus rides are limited. Free time slot tickets are required to take part. They will be available at the information desk at Verkehrsmuseum Remise on the evening of the event. You can also find up-to-date information about start times and available places there.

Tickets in advance and at the museum

Tickets for the “ORF Lange Nacht der Museen” are available now at Wiener Linien information and ticket offices and directly at Verkehrsmuseum Remise. To avoid waiting on the evening of the event, we recommend buying your ticket in advance.

Explore with WienMobil Rad

For the “ORF Lange Nacht der Museen”, an additional mobile WienMobil Rad station with up to 30 bikes will be available at the Museum Meeting Point at Maria-Theresien-Platz.
