How to get in touch with U2xU5
The U2xU5 underground extension is a once-in-a-century project in the densely built-up city centre at a depth of up to 30 metres. We are working our way through what is effectively a mountain range underground, which can cause ground movements – this is normal in tunnel construction. Safety is always our top priority, which is why Wiener Linien is taking a wide range of measures in advance.
What are we doing to ensure this?
Before construction begins:
- We have carried out 250 test drillings and created a 3D geological model.
- We have inspected and secured the surrounding buildings, for example by reinforcing foundations and extending basements.
During construction:
- We are installing hundreds of measuring points on buildings.
- Permanent monitoring by experts
- Immediate measures such as soil injections, support measures
What to do if you notice damage?
- Report the incident immediately and directly to your local neighbourhood representative at the ombudsman's office. There are separate contact persons for each construction phase who can be reached by telephone, e-mail and, by appointment, in person.
- If necessary, immediate measures will be taken quickly.
- All reports are recorded and reviewed by construction experts. Damage caused by the underground construction is insured.
- Please note: Some repair work can only be carried out once the construction work in the background (e.g. concrete excavation work in a tunnel) has been completed. This ensures that the renovation is sustainable.
