Museum Remise

Explore the history of public transport in Vienna in a multimedia exhibition.

A fascinating journey: 150 years of public transport

Take a journey through 150 years of public transport history together with Wiener Linien. Discover one of the largest collections of historical vehicles in Europe in the beautiful historic halls of the former tramway depot in Erdberg, from the first horse-drawn tramway in 1868, the legendary ‘American’ of the post-war era and the Reichsbrückenbus, which tumbled into the Danube river in 1976, to the public transport of the future.

Remise, our public transport museum, offers a unique combination of historical exhibits and modern, interactive exhibits:

In addition to showing vehicles from a wide range of different eras, a variety of themed areas also provide visitors with interesting and little-known facts about Vienna’s public transport system – and the interactive exhibits invite you to get involved and try things out.

For example, find out what the difference is between direct and alternating current or show off your skills as a driver of an underground train with our underground simulator. Fun and excitement are guaranteed.

Multimedia and interactive exhibits: Great for adults and children alike

The story of Vienna’s public transport network is not just told using words and pictures. The Remise has a wide range of multimedia content and interactive games to keep things interesting. With its playful way of showcasing history, the public transport museum is also a hit for children, school classes and families. Naturally, you can also book an individual guided tour for your group.
