Free travel to school and to work.
A whole year long, for just EUR 20.00.
Travel between your home and place of training for an entire academic year.
The youth pass is available for school pupils and apprentices who travel to school or work by public transport, but otherwise get around by other means. With this ticket, you can travel between your home and your school or place of training for an entire academic year (1 September to 15 September of the following year). In the case of school pupils, however, this only applies on school days.
Where is the youth pass valid?
If you go to school, you can travel as often as you like between the place entered as your home on your school ID card and your school on the lines of the Verkehrsverbund Ost Region (Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland).
Apprentices, people doing their voluntary social year or environment protection year, or police trainees, may travel as often as they like between their home and place of training or vocational school on the lines of the Verkehrsverbund Ost Region (Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland). If the place of residence or training is in Vienna, the youth pass is valid as a network ticket in the core zone of Vienna.
When is the youth pass valid?
The youth pass is valid for an entire academic year (from 1 September until 15 September of the following year), but only on school days for school pupils.
Can I turn my youth pass into a top youth pass?
If you already have a youth pass, you can easily convert it into a top youth pass by paying a supplement – by email to email@example.com or at the next ticket office. If you bought your youth pass online and would like to convert it into a top youth pass, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.

- Anyone doing their voluntary social year or environmental protection year, as well as police trainees, under the age of 24.
What do I need for the youth pass?
- A place of residence, school or education in Vienna, Lower Austria or Burgenland
- A valid school pupil or apprentice ID
- Individuals doing their voluntary social year or the voluntary environment protection year, as well as police trainees, need ID that is issued by VOR.
Where can I buy the youth pass?
The youth pass can be purchased for the coming academic year from the middle of August at all ticket and information offices and from the ticket machines at underground stations.
Buy the ticket conveniently online in the Wiener Linien online ticket shop. You also have the advantage here of being able to print your ticket out again if you lose it. You may also buy the youth pass on your smartphone using the WienMobil app. Here you can download it and find more information on mobile tickets.
If you live in Lower Austria or Burgenland, you can also buy your youth pass at post offices and from post office partners. You can obtain more information about this from VOR. By the way, you do not need your residence registration sheet (Meldezettel) or an official stamp – the youth pass is simply valid when presented together with your school pupil or apprentice ID.
The ticket costs EUR 19.60 and is valid for the entire academic year (1 September to 15 September of the following year).
